[edit] Information

Elephant Cave focuses on Kitum Cave in Mt.Elgon National Park, Kenya and the work of two guards from the Kenyan Wildlife Service.Unique footage of elephants, leopards and other wildlife was captured on remote infra red cameras rigged inside the cave. Driven by desperate salt cravings, these mountain forest elephants are forced to make the dangerous journey to a cave.

Humans too have been drawn to Kitum Cave for thousands of years — originally to harvest salt, but more recently to slaughter elephants. Now local rangers have been assigned to protect the survivors. Using the latest in surveillance technology, the film reveals secrets of the world’s only culture of underground elephants.
