Unabomber In His Own Words tells the extraordinary inside story of the Unabomber's reign of terror, using exclusive access to a never-before-heard interview from inside his Supermax prison and newly discovered audio proof of long-rumoured Harvard/CIA mind control experiments. In a never-before-heard prison interview conducted in 1999 just three months into serving multiple life sentences for killing three people and wounding 23 others, Ted Kaczynski describes in chilling detail the origins and execution of his personal war against society, his disdain for the FBI investigators who tracked him and his hope for modern terrorism. For nearly 20 years, the Unabomber secretly terrorized America with a series of homemade bombs. And now he tells his story. Featuring Ted Kaczynski's only in-depth interview from behind bars—along with a series of explosive revelations from the family members, FBI agents, and investigative journalists who helped crack the case—Unabomber: In His Own Words chronicles the deadly cat-and-mouse game that became the longest and most expensive manhunt in history, and explores how secret mind control experiments at Harvard may have contributed to turning a brilliant mathematician into a homicidal hermit. The story is told through with over 70 hours of recorded and original interviews in an effort to bring all new information to the documentary. These revelations provide dramatic new context into Kaczynski's mindset as he goes from child prodigy to anti-technology domestic terrorist. It's a story that resonates, as we are now living in the world that he prophesied – one in which technology has come to dominate so many aspects of our lives. This is an extremely personal and detailed look into the mind of a serial killer, and hearing it all in Ted Kaczynski's voice, first as a Harvard undergrad at age 16 and then 35 years later as an inmate, makes for chilling television. From 1978 until his arrest in 1996, Ted Kaczynski, a brilliant mathematician and drop-out professor, held America ransom sending a series of homemade bombs that injured 23, and killed three victims. Playing a deadly cat-and-mouse game with the FBI, Kaczynski evaded capture and taunted his pursuers in what became the longest and most expensive manhunt in American law-enforcement history. Written and Directed by Mick Grogan ; Produced by Yap Films in Association with ReelzChannel and Bell Media
[edit] Part 1
The first episode examines the start of the Unabomber's campaign of terror spanning from 1978 to 1985, and dives into Kaczynski's childhood to discover what might have made a young mathematical genius with few friends evolve into a sociopathic terrorist. As his infamy grows, Ted Kaczynski finds his footing as a serial bomber while authorities desperately search for a pattern with his earliest targets.
[edit] Part 2
Picking up in 1985, Part Two tells the story of how the Unabomber began to ramp-up his terror campaign, claiming his first murder and taunting his FBI pursuers. Kaczynski's secret journals from his time as a grad student in Michigan reveal the extraordinary moment when his thoughts first turned to murder. The contents of Kaczynski's secret diary offer insight into what puzzled the FBI about his elusive behavior when his attacks increased.
[edit] Part 3
After a barrage of attacks threatens America's infrastructure, Kaczynski's own words finally provide a crucial break in the FBI's manhunt to find him. Part Three recounts the period from 1993 to 1996, when the Unabomber was holding America ransom with a series of increasingly powerful bombs before his arrest in 1996. Kaczynski's brother and sister-in-law reveal the emotional story of how they came to suspect he was the Unabomber, which ultimately led to his arrest.
[edit] Part 4
As lawyers prepare to defend Kaczynski after his capture, an untold experiment from his college days provides a possible cause for his mental capacity. The final episode of the series examines Kaczynski's trial, with the revelation that he was subjected to a secret psychological experiment as a teenaged student at Harvard, a fact some claim could have been responsible for turning him into the terrorist he became.
